In light of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias announcing that he expects the FYROM naming issue to be resolved very soon, “Macedonia is Greece” rallies have been organised around 24 cities today, protesting the use of the term “Macedonia.”
Speaking on ERT television late on Monday night, Kotzias said that within a few days the two sides will overcome their disagreements and reach a solution, “There comes a time when you have to say the big ‘yes’ or the big ‘no’. Now that we are reaching the end, the FYROM government has realised the great difficulties. My feeling is that within a few days we will overcome this,” Kotzias said.
With the names ‘New Makedonia’, ‘North Macedonia’ and ‘Upper Macedonia’ remaining on the table.
Pella, Kavala, Drama, Serres, Kilkis, Polykastro, Lagadas, Nea Moudania, Edessa, Florina, Kastoria, Ptolemaida, Katerini, Veria, Larissa, Ioannina, Rhodes, Chania, Corfu and Chalkida amongst many more cities are expecting to draw large crowds of protesters, who will take to the streets today, Wednesday 6thof June at around 7:30pm to show the government and the world, they refuse to accept any name for FYROM, which includes the term “Macedonia.”
